We were heartbroken and disappointed that, at the Planning Committee meeting on 2nd April, the council gave approval for the housing plans at Benfield Valley. All is not lost however!
The council have stated that they are 'not minded to approve' any request to change the terms of the lease from recreational to residential, which is wonderful, but we are not satisfied that this will ultimately and definitively prevent any building. Therefore we are currently collecting signatures and addresses that will be sent to the Secretary of State, to object to any application to discharge or modify the covenant that is currently in place preventing any residential development of the valley.
Due to the process by which this can happen we have to collect hard copy names and addresses - unfortunately, we cannot collect these electronically. We have a few ways you can sign this petition:
Come along to one of our signing events. The next is Wednesday 14th May 2-3.30pm at the Hangleton Manor pub. Signing will take you five minutes and you can stay for a chat if you'd like.
Download and print off the sheet (see below). Share it at your workplace, community, with your friends and family members; get as many signatures as you can and then arrange to drop it off to one of us, or we can collect it from you.
Pop over to Anna's Barbershop,30a Boundary Road, BN3 4EF at your convenience. Anna has plenty of sheets so you can collect them there or just sign and leave!
Contact us via email benfieldvalleyproject@gmail.com and we can drop some sheets off to you!
Thank you as always for all your support! Let's do this!
