As you may have noticed if you are following us on our social media, we are thrilled to announce that we will be running our first community nature day on Saturday 30th July 10am-1pm at Greenleas Recreation ground, Hangleton. This is something we have had in our minds for some time now as we feel now is a great time to get the community together to enjoy the beauty of the Benfield Valley and to connect (or re-connect!) with the nature on out doorstep.
We are still very much in the planning stages but are pleased that BHCC has allowed us to use the Greenleas rec as our base. There will stalls from local environment, conservation and wildlife groups with lots of information about how you can get involved in your local green spaces, plus lots of activities for children and adults alike. Thus far, these will include:
Nature walks
Litter picks
Creative sessions such as outdoor creative writing
Children activities e.g. make your own butterfly feeder, nature art, do-it-yourself nature trails (including our famous fairy door trail!) and lots more!
Talks by local experts and nature enthusiasts
The entire day is free and open to all. We encourage sustainable transport like cycling, scooting, public transport or your own two feet!
The closest buses are the numbers 5, 5A and 5B (dropping you off at the Hangleton Way bus stop, by Oscar's on the Green and then through the gate at the bottom of West Way).
Our base will be close to the car park at the end of Hangleton Valley Drive - you won't be able to miss us! Parking is available in surrounding roads as well as in the small car but please do use mode of transport as suggested above.
We hope you can make it!
Love,
Team BVP x
