Dear ____________________,

I’m writing to express my concern at the proposed development of the Benfield Valley. As a local resident, I am a firm advocate of local green spaces and our valley is one of our most precious resources.

I would like to outline a few reasons why the Benfield is such a special place to me and why I think it must be preserved and treated as a local nature reserve:

Write a paragraph about why you love the valley and the part it plays in your life. If you would like to go into detail, please use the bullet points below in your letter:

  • Write about the ways in which you use the valley and how it helps you personally

  • Write about the wildlife it contains e.g. badgers, hedgehogs, song thrush (on the conservation red list), pipistrel bats, slow worms oak, maple and sycamore trees

  • The pollinator-friendly flowers that you notice in the valley e.g. thistles, hawthorn and blackthorn trees, bramble, apple trees, cow parsley

  • The mental and physical health benefits you have noticed when you use the valley

  • Our lack of access to local green spaces and why keeping the valley as a ‘full green wedge’ is important to you

Thank you for taking the time to read my thoughts. I would like to repeat again that Benfield Valley must under no circumstances not be built on and must remain an important green lung in our city and local community.

Yours sincerely,

(Your name)
