World Poetry Day

Hello everyone!!

Today is world poetry day and what better way to celebrate than by getting you to write a piece inspired by our favourite local green space!

There are so many poetry forms - sonnet, narrative poem, free verse, to name just three! - that it can be hard to decide which one to use.

We want you to get your creativity flowing and write a poem about the nature and wildlife of Benfield Valley. Or even your own experiences of the valley, how it makes you feel, what you've seen.

Send it to us by this Friday (25th) and we’ll collate all your submissions into a post for our website, newsletter AND our social media.

In this post we have also provided so ideas for themes you could write about. Feel free to use these ideas or your own! You can even use images to accompany your poem for inspiration.

There are no age limits so why not try this at your school, with your children, parents, friends…? We’re really looking forward to seeing what you create!
